Discover Opportunities is the Dundee Partnership's Employability Programme.
The Dundee Partnership includes, amongst others Dundee City Council, Jobcentre Plus, Skills Development Scotland, Careers Scotland, Dundee Community Health Partnership and the Community and Voluntary sector. Within the partnership there is an Employability Programme which aims to reduce the number of people in the city that are on working age benefits and increase the number of people that are in work and who are able to stay in work.
The Partnership invests in a wide range of activity that contributes to this aim including Jobcentre Plus activity (for example, New Deal and Pathways to Work), Skills Development Scotland (who provide an all age Careers Service and national programmes such as Get Ready for Work and Training For Work), Dundee Community Health Partnership (Working towards Health and Working Health Services) and the City Council.
In addition to these mainstream programmes the partnership is investing millions of pounds in projects and activities through the Fairer Scotland Fund. The Dundee European Programme and the Disadvantaged Areas Fund.
One of the projects that is being funded through the Partnership is the Discover Opportunities Centre where colleagues from Jobcentre Plus, Careers Scotland, the Financial Inclusion Partnership, Dundee City Council and Dundee Community Health Partnership are co located.
