| Description |
We will provide opportunities for drug users that promote community inclusion and assist clients to work towards becoming/remaining drug free. We will liaise with other agencies to assist drug users develop stable lifestyles, independent living skills, enhance self esteem improve job-readiness and enter employment. We will develop active and effective links with further education establishments, volunteering agencies, local employers and existing employability agencies. We will bridge the gap to services to provide access to welfare rights, offending, accommodation and health. We will encourage and maintain informal support networks and decrease dependence on formal drug agencies. Using a client-centred approach we will engage the client in building their understanding and prepare them for work through training, support and work placements. We will provide a supported, community-based work placement and specific opportunities for education, training and work experience. We will encourage and motivate clients towards realistic job goals. We will utilise a range of provisions available in the local community (Voluntary Sector, Jobcentre Plus Provision, Local Colleges and Training Institutions, Employers and Recruitment Agencies). We will work with providers to increase their understanding of drug misusers and the issues they face when trying to ‘move-on’. The service aims to target individuals who are: 16+ yrs old substance users living in Tayside. Individuals who have successfully engaged in treatment and rehabilitation and achieved stability in their lifestyle. Individuals who have demonstrated sustained lifestyle and behavioural change. Willing to undergo training, work experience and voluntary work. Motivated in seeking employment. |
