All too often, employers and local businesses are confused by the number of public agencies they have to deal with when they are looking to recruit, train and employ individuals. Discover Opportunities brings together these public sector agencies to make your business' engagement with them as stress free as possible.

Who's involved?

The public sector agencies are: Dundee City Council, Job Centre Plus, Careers Scotland, Dundee College, Scottish Enterprise Tayside, NHS Tayside and many more.

What's it all about?

The jargon term is ''brokering". We would prefer to describe it as a one stop shop approach between employers looking to recruit people and the various public sector agencies in Dundee which are working with local individuals to assist them back into the labour market.

How will it work?

Discover Opportunities will provide employers with a single point of contact, of your choice, who will be able to work with you, get to know you, your business, what you need and how best to achieve it. This individual will act as a gateway into accessing a whole range of services available to help you and your business. We will discuss the recruitment and training needs of your company and how best we can support you in meeting them.

What's the catch?

There isn't one! All the agencies within Discover Opportunities are aiming to help individuals in Dundee to seek employment, secure employment, retain employment, develop in employment. We believe, from what employers are telling us, that we can do this more effectively if we can work in partnership with employers.

What's expected of employers?

A commitment to work with us to consider recruiting from groups of local people looking to get back into the labour market.

We will discuss your recruitment needs, develop tailored training solutions to meet the real skill needs of your business and match these to local individuals looking for work. All we ask is that where the individual has demonstrated the appropriate skills and competency levels that you are looking for that you guarantee them an interview.
